Collision Course

Voices From the Roof of the World

Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, 2019

Karachi, estimated population, 25 million. Pakistan’s largest city, financial hub, and a major centre of rural to urban migration. This ‘Mega City’ is on course to become the 7th largest city in the world by the end of this decade.

But this unplanned growth has come at a heavy price. Karachi was ranked one of the 10 least liveable cities in the world by the Economist magazine. These issues are expected to put Karachi on a dangerous collision course with climate change.

The film explores the causes of heat waves, urban flooding and water scarcity and also looks at some of the measures and enforcement that can help protect vulnerable urban communities from further devastation.
